Fans have known for awhile now that the end of Naruto Shippuden was upon them. The anime caught up with Kishimoto’s manga some time ago when it animated Naruto’s final climatic battle with Sasuke at the Valley of the End. With the manga finished, Naruto Shippuden went on to animate a slew of epilogue stories. The last arc brought to the anime has been Konoha Hiden, a post-manga novel that follows Naruto and Hinata as the two ninja prepare to get married.

While Naruto Shippuden may be ending, the hero will not be gone for long. Studio Pierrot is set to debut a new Naruto anime on TV Tokyo at the beginning of April. The series will tell the story of Konoha’s new ninja and focus on the eldest child of Naruto. Named Boruto, fans will find the young boy as he enters the academy with his friends and does his best to escape the shadow of his father’s enduring legacy.

It’s the end of an era. The final episode of the Naruto-starring TV anime will be aired on March 23, bringing to a close a highly successful series.

The first Naruto TV series debuted back in October 2002 and ran to 2007. That same year, the current series Naruto Shippuden kicked off.

Now, fourteen and a half years later, the finale will be shown. As IT Media and the show’s Twitter account point out, the Naruto TV anime is coming to a close with this last Shippuden broadcast.

The manga ended its 15 year run back in 2014, so unless Naruto gets revived, we’ll have to be content with the Boruto spin-off, which gets its TV anime debut this spring.
